A Memorable Evening at The Kennedy Center

Tonight’s Ballet Across America’s program was featured Sir Frederick Ashton’s ‘Les Patineurs‘ by The Sarasota Ballet, Edwaard Liang’s ‘Wunderland‘ by The Washington Ballet, and George Balanchine’s ‘The Four Temperaments‘ by Pennsylvania Ballet.  All three companies performed incredibly.  However, the real treat for me was seeing Ellen Overstreet’s, alumna of BalletNova Center for Dance, stunning performance with Sarasota Ballet.  Ellen, thank you for your beautiful dancing and bringing the BalletNova family all together tonight.IMG_1850 IMG_1852 IMG_1854 IMG_1848 IMG_1855

Every Second Onstage is a Gift

“Enjoy every moment. Every second onstage is a gift, and though that moment in time will pass, you can choose to remember the incredible way it made you feel, and no one can ever take that away.” Courtney Elizabeth – Soloist at San Francisco Ballet

The Core

So Touched by Jim…

Core8We’re so touched by the letter we received from someone who attended our performance on Saturday evening…”I was able to see the Spring Concert this past Saturday night. “The Core,” was absolutely the highlight. What a brilliant, gripping piece!

Candy described it best: “mesmerizing.” I came away still thinking about the fluidity and energy of the piece and the moving and poignant way you explore relationships. From our own center we reach out to others, and indeed, are connected.

Thank you for a great gift. I have such admiration for all your work and look forward to seeing more.

Your company is splendid, and it was such a pleasure to see you dance. – Jim”

Thank you Jim, for the wonderful feedback.

Thank You, My Dear Friend!

Notes on Springsping8‘Notes on Spring’, what a fun, sweet, elegant, and delightful dance choreographed by a very closed friend of mine, Constance Walsh.  I was so fortunate to work with her and a group of young and talented dancers from BalletNova.  It was the closing for BalletNova’s ‘Swan Lake Act II & Other works’ production last weekend.  What a perfect way to end the show!   spring5 spring1 spring7 spring2 spring3 spring4 spring9

GDC Guest Performed at BalletNova’s ‘Swan Lake Act II & Other Works’

This past weekend Gin Dance Company had the privilege of performing at BalletNova’s ‘Swan Lake Act II & Other Works’ production at Thomas Jefferson Theater.  Every night, right before the show we followed BalletNova’s tradition gathering together in the Green Room.  We all held hands together and Kathy Fredgren gave us a moving speech to inspire us to dance our hearts out on the stage… and the magical speech from Mrs. Fredgren worked… The performances were well received.  Congratulations to Artistic Director of BalletNova, Nancie Woods. ‘Swan Lake Act II’ was amazingly beautiful!  Congratulations to Constance Walsh.GDC gdc1 gdc3 bau Her ‘Notes on Spring’ was so sweet and delightful.  Big Thanks to GDC dancers Michelle Conroy, Rachel Forman, Lindsay Garrett, and Emily Herren for the strong and inspiring performance of ‘The Core’.  Thank you to all those who came to our performances.  It was so good to see you all!
